Drive Uber? Your replacement car needs to be ready for rideshare.

When driving is your work, a car off the road can interrupt more than the school run. Tell us at the first conversation that you drive for Uber or another rideshare platform.

Not just any hire car.

The platform’s current vehicle and document requirements still apply. Uber Australia requires CTP and at least third-party property damage insurance; for UberX, the driver must also be listed on the property policy. Vehicle eligibility and inspections matter too. Before accepting a vehicle, confirm that its agreement and cover permit your intended use, that the required documents are in place and that the platform has accepted it. Understand the costs before collecting the keys.

Ask who pays the hire charge, what happens if recovery is disputed, and which excess, tolls or other charges remain yours. Keep the agreement and repair timeline. The reasonable cost of a replacement vehicle may be part of a motor-loss claim, but it is not a blanket entitlement to any car, rate or duration.
